Status: Task Force Engaged

Hello and welcome to the first ever Tourism Burlington blog! To get started, we’re going to introduce the Tourism team, henceforth known as the Task Force. We’re Alyssa and Kat, your faithful blogging duo (also known in some circles as Batman and Robin/Bonnie and Clyde/Calvin and Hobbes/House and Wilson…you get the point right?). This is our second summer back at the office and we’re looking forward to another great season. Also blogging this year are Celine (back for her third summer) and Elizabeth (who’s been here longer than we can remember). New members of the Task Force include Nicole and Matt, who spend their days dedicated to various projects including the upcoming Taste of Burlington, a directory of Burlington sports organizations and even a listing of all Burlington cemetaries. Natalie (aka the Brochure Queen) and Dania, our resident French-speaking linguist, will be joining the team for the first seven weeks of the summer. During the second seven weeks we will have Will and Andrea joining us as well.

“What does such a fine team of ridiculously good looking individuals do all summer?” you might ask… Good question. Our main purpose in life is to help our lovely visitors with any and every question they might have, ranging from “where is the bathroom?” to “when is Sound of Music this year?” to “are there many buffalo in the area?”. You name it, we know it (within reason). Aside from that, we work on different projects throughout the office. Today, Alyssa and I organized the brochure cabinets. We also got a chance to wander the streets with Matt and Dania dropping off flyers for the upcoming Streetfest – taking place June 20th in conjunction with Sound of Music (check out www.soundofmusic.ca for more details). We’re lucky enough to have one of the best jobs ever. Question: how great is it? Answer: Natalie actually came in on her day off just for fun.

Of course, we wouldn’t be as ridiculously awesome without the help of our two favourite ladies. Sally and Linda C. head up the Task Force. They are the Zordons to our Power Rangers, the Captain Kirks of our Star Fleet and the Professor Xaviers to our X-Men (and Women). With their help, we answer tough questions like “what cities are close to Lake Simcoe?” and “where can I find a good foot doctor?”. They guide us and keep us in line when we talk too loud.

Not to be forgotten are the other staff members of Tourism Burlington. Pam, Simone and Linda O. work behind the scenes doing all sorts of important and useful things.

Wow, this is really long… We’re going to sign off, but we’ll be back next week to update you with some Festival of Fine Art and Craft stories and begin our cleverly entitled segments.

Till next time, stay classy Burlington.
-K&A
